Abstract: Throughout civilizations worldwide, women's safety has consistently ranked as a primary concern, prompting the development and refinement of numerous safety technologies aimed at empowering individuals and facilitating swift responses to potential threats. This paper delves into the domain of women's safety devices, with a particular emphasis on the diverse triggering mechanisms employed in these devices. By discussing the advantages, disadvantages, and current research gaps, this review aims to illuminate the spectrum of technological advancements, including smart technology, in women's safety technology. These advancements encompass a wide range, from conventional manual triggers like push buttons to cutting-edge features such as voice activation, fingerprint identification, and artificial intelligence (AI) integration. Despite ongoing progress, crucial areas still warrant further investigation. By highlighting these research gaps, this review aspires to catalyze subsequent developments capable of fundamentally transforming the landscape of women's safety technology.
