Abstract: Shielding is a widely used technique to make any electronic device compatible to Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI). In this present work an efficient method is introduced for analyzing and calculating shielding effectiveness of perforated shields. The phenomenon of electromagnetic interference is presented for metallic shields. The properties and shielding effectiveness of a special class of polymers called โconducting polymersโ are also presented here. The selection of the type of shielding material depends on the frequency of operation. In this work perforated shields with normal incidence of Electromagnetic (EM) waves, are analyzed using Transmission Line theory for rectangular multiple apertures. This analysis is presented to keep the design problems under scope for designing EMI systems.
