Abstract: This work examines and models the acceptance and application of the Internet of Things (IoT) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It first explains the tremendous potential and impact of IoT on different areas of governance in smart cities, the challenges and the security threats faced.  Next, the significant improvements accompanied by the introduction of advanced countermeasure techniques such as Blockchain technology are discussed. It proposes an acceptance model of IoT in Saudi Arabia based on well-renowned information systems theories, namely Diffusion of Innovations (DOI) theory, Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT).  The current study adopted a quantitative approach to test the model. Statistical analysis of the proposed model validates the effectiveness of the proposed work in modelling of IoT use prevalence and acceptance.
